Recipient of the 2023 Ruth Page Woodall Excellence in High School Chemistry Teaching Award

The Nashville Local Section of the American Chemical Society is proud to announce that the section’s Excellence in High School Chemistry Teaching Award has now been named in honor of long time ACS and Nashville Local Section member and Councilor, Ruth Page Woodall. This is a testament to Ruth’s contributions to the section, ACS, and the field of chemistry teaching.

The recipient of the Nashville Local Section 2023 Ruth Page Woodall Excellence in High School Chemistry Teaching Award is Mr. Will Hannon from Montgomery Bell Academy. Mr. Hannon’s commitment to teaching and his students is highly valued and his efforts resulted in significant increases in the AP Chemistry exams scores of his students. He is thoughtful and thorough in how he presents and teaches the class material. He is also the coach for the Science Olympiad and Chemistry Olympiad teams at Montgomery Bell Academy.

In addition to the 2023 Nashville Local Section award, Mr. Hannon also received the 2023 Southeastern Regional Award for Excellence in High School Chemistry Teaching. He will be honored for this achievement at the 2023 SERMACS award luncheon in Durham, NC this October.

Join us as we congratulate Mr. Hannon for his accomplishments and his commitment to students and instilling quality chemistry education to the next generation!
