This past Saturday, September 27th, the Nashville Section held our annual award luncheon. During this event, we recognized the new Nashville Section, 50 & 60 year ACS members, Nashville Section ACS Student Travel Grant recipients, high-school students with Outstanding Achievement In Chemistry Olympiad, and thanked Professor Preston MacDougall for his service as the Nashville Section Chair in 2024. We were very thankful the have current ACS President Dr. Dorothy Phillips kick off the luncheon with a video message!

We presented Ms. Danielle Burt of Siegel High School with the Nashville Section ACS Ruth Page Woodall Excellence in High School Teaching Award and enjoyed a lecture from Ms. Nekesa C. Oliver, Graduate Student at Vanderbilt University and President of the Nashville Chapter of the National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers.

We also celebrated Nashville’s winning of three ChemLuminary Awards. Nashville was nominated for six awards for activities in 2024, and took home three, including Outstanding Community Involvement in CCEW, Outstanding American Association of Chemistry Teachers (AACT) Support Award, and the BIG ONE: Outstanding Performance by a Local Section in the Medium Size Category.
